NEWS / Spectrum Study-Sabbatical June 2010

Dr. Frederik Göbbels, professor from Fontys Sporthogeschool Locatie Sittard/Tilburg, was first introduced to the Spectrum at the International Spectrum Workshop in Halkidiki, Greece in 2007 organized by Dr. Digelidis. As he stated, "after the conference my enthusiasm about the Spectrum grew."

His interest led to a request for an intensive study opportunity in the USA. Sara Ashworth, from the Spectrum Institute, and Frederik organized an intensive Spectrum study schedule that included visiting different universities to observe the implementation of the Spectrum in two university settings. Drs. Sue Mueller and Carolyn Kuchinski of East Stroudsburg University and Dr. Fran Cleland of West Chester University in Pennsylvania. He then visited Dr. Sara Ashworth in Florida for additional study about the philosophy and implementation details of the Spectrum.

Frederik reasons for his Spectrum study supported two objectives. One, expanding his knowledge-base about the implementation of the Spectrum on the university level and two, assist him in his translation efforts of the Teaching Physical Education text.

His book was published in 2014.
